The OHSAA says Ohio State's five-star receiver commit met a transfer exception. He is sitting two games for two unrelated infractions instead, missed Friday's loss at Fairfield, and is cleared to return in Week 3. Nobody will say what the infractions were until August 27.
Benny Easter Jr. has belonged to Texas Tech since November. Nigel Newkirk and Gabriel Osborne Jr. both pledged elsewhere at the turn of June, and Osborne's decision made Oklahoma the No. 1 class in the country that day. Ohio State's five-star receiver commit spent one semester at Big Walnut, won three state track titles there, and is enrolled in Huber Heights again. His pledge to the Buckeyes is not in question. Whether he plays this fall is.
He is the first composite five-star Indiana has ever signed up, and he was no longer expected to pick the Buckeyes. The 2027 receiver room still has its own five-star, and a flip target left on the board.
