Ohio State’s 2027 class is 19 commitments spread over 18 high schools, because St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale has two of them. On Thursday, September 17, and Friday, September 18, sixteen of those schools played. Fourteen won and two lost.

Tonight, Friday, September 25, fifteen of them play again, so this is last week’s results with this week’s schedule underneath. As before, it is put together from the places the week was actually recorded: each school’s own MaxPreps schedule page for the final scores, the two reporters who wrote up a commit’s night by name, and the season totals coaches entered on MaxPreps afterward.

The scores

Every final below is the school’s own MaxPreps schedule page, as it read on Wednesday, September 23. These are TEAM results. A school’s win is not a claim that its commit played, and where we know he did, a section below says so and names who reported it.

Won (14):

  • Wayne (Jamier Brown) beat Fairmont 41-35 in overtime and is 2-3.
  • Sierra Canyon (Marcus Fakatou) beat Orange Lutheran 28-10 and is 4-0.
  • Jackson Academy (Caden Moss) beat Hartfield Academy 24-14 and is 5-0.
  • Liberty Center (Kellen Wymer) won 61-6 at Bryan and is 5-0.
  • St. Thomas Aquinas (Wyatt Smith and Jaden Carey) won 40-7 at Archbishop McCarthy and is 5-0.
  • Blue Springs South (Prince Goldsby) won 37-6 at Staley and is 2-2.
  • Ramsay (Karlos May) beat Calera 18-7 on Thursday and is 4-1.
  • Millbrook (Quinton Cypher) won 42-0 at Athens Drive and is 4-0.
  • Huntington Beach (Brady Edmunds) beat Yorba Linda 29-25 and is 5-0.
  • Cibolo Steele (Eli Johnson) beat Wagner 56-19 and is 2-1-1.
  • Massillon Washington (Deontay Malone) beat St. Edward 23-21 and is 5-0.
  • Central Catholic (Jimmy Kalis) beat Norwin 54-17 and is 4-0.
  • Bishop Watterson (Davis Seaman) beat Harvest Prep 50-6 and is 5-0.
  • Oviedo (Jordan Donahoo) won 28-7 at Hagerty and is 3-2.

Lost (2):

  • St. Clairsville (Mason Wilt) lost 41-21 at East Liverpool and is 0-5.
  • Godwin (Brody McNeel) lost 53-14 at home to Hanover and is 2-2.

Did not play: Blessed Trinity Catholic (DJ Jacobs), 4-0, had an open week. Chaminade-Madonna (Angelo Smith), 3-1, was scheduled at Cardinal Gibbons that Friday; when we read its page on September 19 the game had moved to Monday, September 21, and by our September 23 read it was gone from the page with no result. We count it as not played until the school’s page says otherwise.

Millbrook’s was the week’s only shutout. After the week, ten of the 18 schools have not lost a game, and those ten carry eleven of the nineteen commitments, the same count as a week earlier.

The last play in Berea

Massillon and Lakewood St. Edward came in unbeaten, and the game was played at Baldwin Wallace’s Finney Stadium. (MaxPreps lists it as a Massillon road game; the list above gives the score without naming a site.) The account below is from Don Engelhardt, writing for massillontigers.com, which is the Massillon Tiger Football Booster Club’s own site. It is a partisan source and we name it as one; the plays it describes are the facts we take from it.

St. Edward had one snap left, from midfield, and threw it to the end zone. Engelhardt:

“It appeared for a moment that wide receiver Caleb Hall had broken loose from the coverage and was in position to catch the winning TD at the goal line. Only, speedy Tiger corner Deontay Malone closed quickly and swatted the ball away at the last second to secure the win.”

It was not his only play. By Engelhardt’s account Malone also intercepted a pass on the St. Edward possession after Massillon went up 13-7, and he recovered St. Edward’s onside kick after the Eagles cut it to 23-21, the kick before that last snap. Engelhardt calls it Massillon’s fifth straight win over St. Edward.

One more name from his piece, for readers who follow the board’s other column: he describes Brayton Feister, who committed to Oregon in August, as Massillon’s “stellar linebacker.” Ohio State’s cornerback and Oregon’s linebacker share a defense.

Jamier Brown, in overtime

Wayne’s 41-35 win over Fairmont went to overtime, and Jamier Brown is the reason it got there. Joey DeBerardino of WDTN:

“Ohio State commit Jamier Brown had two total touchdowns: an 86-yard kick return and the game-tying 23-yard touchdown catch to send it to overtime.”

Quarterback Kye Graham threw the overtime winner to Ryder Penrod, DeBerardino writes, his fifth touchdown pass of the night. Wayne is 2-0 in the Greater Western Ohio Conference. Brown has now scored in all three games he has played since his two-game suspension ended.

The coach-entered lines that moved

Six commits have season totals that their coaches updated on MaxPreps after this week’s game. These are running totals, not single-game lines, and each one is only as current as the stamp MaxPreps prints on it.

  • Brady Edmunds, through five games (stamped September 19): 82 completions for 1,137 yards, 13 touchdowns and two interceptions, plus 71 rushing yards.
  • Jordan Donahoo, through five games (stamped September 22): 16 catches for 437 yards, 27.3 a catch, and four touchdowns.
  • Wyatt Smith, through five games (stamped September 21): 41 tackles, 14 for loss, seven sacks and 19 hurries.
  • Prince Goldsby, through four games (stamped September 21): 33 tackles, 26 solo, 7 for loss and 4.5 sacks.
  • Karlos May, through five games (stamped September 22): 28 tackles and 8 for loss.
  • Marcus Fakatou, through four games (stamped September 20): 20 tackles, 9 for loss, two sacks and nine hurries.

  • Chaminade-Madonna (Angelo Smith) hosts Saint Andrew’s, 6:30 p.m.

St. Thomas Aquinas and Huntington Beach list no game this week. Neither does Massillon’s MaxPreps page, though Engelhardt writes that Massillon “hosts Football North, the all-star team from Ontario, Canada.” Until a result posts on the school’s page, it stays off our tally.

And one date to circle. On Friday, October 2, St. Thomas Aquinas plays at Chaminade-Madonna, and both schools’ pages list it. That is three Ohio State 2027 pledges on one field: Wyatt Smith and Jaden Carey on one side, Angelo Smith on the other.

Every school’s schedule, with each game in your own calendar if you want it, is on /season. Every current-season line we have printed is on The players’ own stat lines, and the class itself, all nineteen names with the reporting behind each, is on the board.
