5COMMITS
NO. 2247SPORTS
4STATES

Ohio State has 5 pledges in the class of 2028, and the recruiting services do not agree about any of them. 247Sports, ESPN, Eleven Warriors and Rivals each give their own answer on position, on measurements and on how good these players are. So this board does not pick one. Every outlet gets its own line, in its own words, and anything the outlets agree on is printed once without a name on it.

Is there a five-star in here? Depends who you ask. Christopher Vargas (Eleven Warriors), Jett Harrison (Eleven Warriors), Jameer Whyce (Eleven Warriors) carry the label, and the other outlets on this page do not give it. Signing day for this class is still more than a year out, which is when a rating is at its softest.

9 MOVES

2026

  1. VISITKellan HallDLHall moved his game-day visit from the October 10 Maryland game to Ohio State's regular-season finale against Michigan, Caleb Houser reported for Land-Grant Holy Land on October 8. Ohio State's schedule has that game in Columbus at noon on November 28. His 247Sports page carried no commitment and no Crystal Ball prediction when it was last read, October 7.
  2. VISITJamarcus JohnsonDLJohnson scheduled a game-day visit for Ohio State's homecoming game against Maryland. Mick Walker reported it for Lettermen Row on October 1 and Dan Hessler listed him for Land-Grant Holy Land on October 6. His 247Sports page carried no commitment and no Crystal Ball prediction the day this was filed.
  3. COMMITLuke SohydaTEThe fifth commitment in Ohio State's 2028 class and the first tight end in either open cycle. Eleven Warriors and Rivals both reported it Tuesday night, and 247Sports and ESPN both stamp the row 9/8/2026.
  4. OFFERZion CogerRBOhio State offered the Jasper, Alabama back during the August dead period. Land-Grant Holy Land reported it and 247Sports' own timeline carries the date. This class already has a running back in Elijah Newman-Hall, committed since June 2025.
  5. COMMITChristopher VargasQBHe announced on the afternoon of Saturday, August 8. Eleven Warriors and Rivals both reported it that day, and both call him the No. 1 quarterback in the 2028 class.
  6. COMMITJett HarrisonWRMarvin Harrison Jr.'s younger brother committed on Wednesday, July 1, and Eleven Warriors reported it as the sixth straight Ohio State class with a five-star receiver.
  7. OFFERKavon BlackmonOTOhio State offered the Springfield, Ohio tackle. Land-Grant Holy Land put it in June; the header block above 247Sports' own paywalled offer evaluation dates it 6-20-26, which is what turns a month into a day.

Commit dates are the one thing on this board every outlet that publishes them agrees on, so they are printed without an outlet beside them. An offer is dated to the day the school extended it, per the story linked on the row. This board carries no watch list and no misses, which is why nothing here is a claim about where a recruitment is heading. A move we covered links to the story; every other name links to his profile.

How this board is built

The 5 names above are the complete list on every outlet we read that publishes one, which is 3 of the 4 (247Sports, ESPN and Rivals), and every outlet that dates a pledge dates it the same day, which is why the dates are the one thing on this page printed without an outlet beside them. Everything else varies by service, so it is attributed. Where an outlet has not published a value the cell says not listed rather than borrowing the column beside it, because an outlet that never listed a high school has not agreed with one that did.

Eleven Warriors publishes no commit list for this class. Its column is read off its recruiting news feed, which answers only for the men currently in the news there: on September 23 that was Christopher Vargas, Jett Harrison and Luke Sohyda. Jameer Whyce and Elijah Newman-Hall are not on that page at all, so their grades are the ones it last carried, dated here to that reading rather than to this one.

The class rank of no. 2 nationally comes from 247Sports, read SEP 23, 2026. A class this small ranks on average rating rather than volume, so it will swing hard as the cycle fills. Every man above also has a profile of his own, and they are indexed together at 2028 recruits: one line each, built for scanning rather than for reading, and it names the field each service splits on. There is no watch list here yet, and that is a rule rather than a gap: an offer is not a pursuit. Every one of the four rows on the 2027 watch list is a man already pledged somewhere else, and each carries that school, a status, a note and a named outlet on every cell, because the list is about recruitments two programs are contesting. One dated offer is one school’s action and fills none of those cells, and neither does a recruit naming us in a list of twelve while he is pledged nowhere. So this board gets a watch list the day a 2028 man who is committed elsewhere is reported to that standard, and not before. Until then the reporting is carried as what it is, a story.

Reported in this cycle, and not a pledge

What their high schools are doing. This board is a ratings reading and it prints no scores. Their schools are one list at the foot of the high school season page, each with its record once the team has played, its latest result and its next game, read from that school’s own MaxPreps page and dated. Every man above carries the same season on his own profile. Schedules and team results only, and never an individual stat line.

The class that is actually about to sign is the 2027 board, where the same discipline applies to 19 commits, a watch list and the recruits who chose elsewhere. You can see where that class still has holes on the 2027 needs page.
