Ohio State has not landed a running back in its 2027 class yet. The board still holds 2 names. Every name below links to its full profile, and every fact comes from the verified commit board.
NO COMMIT YET / 2 STILL ON THE BOARDOhio State has not landed a running back in the 2027 class. That is a count off the board, not a projection: how many running backs the staff ultimately signs is their call and we do not guess at it. What we can say is who is still being recruited, and that is below.
Committed to Alabama on Sunday, May 31 and shut down his recruitment, the seventh pledge in the Tide's 2027 class. Ohio State hosted him for the spring game in April and had a June 12 official visit on the calendar that he committed before taking.
Named entering August as one of Ohio State's two likeliest running back flip targets. Rivals ranked him the No. 6 running back nationally on June 1, 2026 (SI / CFB HQ); the board's rank column stores the 247Sports Composite, which files him No. 226 nationally and No. 16 among running backs, read August 15, 2026. The reporting that names the school also names the state, which is the fact most likely to be guessed wrong here: it is Gainesville, Georgia, not the Gainesville in Florida or the one in Texas.
Reporting: Cleveland.com, Andrew Gillis, August 3, 2026 (flip target); 247Sports, Brett Greenberg, May 31, 2026 (commitment day: "announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide on Sunday afternoon"); Sports Illustrated / CFB HQ, James Parks, June 1, 2026 (ranking, school)
Uncommitted, with a commitment date of October 23 and a final three of Missouri, Ohio State and Penn State: he told Rivals' Hayes Fawcett on October 1, and Hunter Shelton of Rivals reported it that evening. Ohio State has offered him.
He took his official visit to Ohio State for the Kent State game on Saturday, September 19. Garrick Hodge of Bucknuts on 247Sports reported the visit that afternoon and Mick Walker of Lettermen Row the next day; Dan Hessler of Land-Grant Holy Land reported on September 22 that no date had been set yet. It was his second trip to Columbus in three weeks, announced by Hodge on September 17. He decommitted from Miami (Ohio) on September 3, 2026, reported the same day by Dave Clark of the Cincinnati Enquirer and by Greg Wilson of Buckeye Sports Bulletin, and stamped Sep 3, 2026 on his own 247Sports timeline. He had been pledged to the RedHawks since June 7. He took the game-day visit to Ohio State for the Ball State opener on September 5 and the offer came that day: Hall announced it on Instagram from Columbus, the Cincinnati Enquirer's Alex Harrison reported it that afternoon, and 247Sports' Garrick Hodge reported it the same day. His 247Sports page now carries Ohio State on a list of nine offers, read September 5, 2026; the same list read eight without them on August 29 and again on September 4. The offer followed Princeton's 49 to 6 win over Colerain on Friday, September 4, in which the Enquirer reports he ran for 100 yards and four touchdowns. Five other schools had offered in the five days after Princeton beat Archbishop Moeller 31-24 on August 20, Penn State first.
Reporting: Cincinnati Enquirer, Alex Harrison, September 5, 2026 (the Ohio State offer); 247Sports, Garrick Hodge, September 5, 2026 (the same offer); 247Sports' Jordan Hall player page, read September 5, 2026 (the nine-school offer list); Cincinnati Enquirer, Dave Clark, September 3, 2026 and Buckeye Sports Bulletin, Greg Wilson, September 3, 2026 (the decommitment); Land-Grant Holy Land, Caleb Houser, September 4, 2026; 247Sports / Bucknuts, Garrick Hodge, September 17, 2026 (the official visit); 247Sports / Bucknuts, Garrick Hodge, September 19, 2026 and On3 / Lettermen Row, Mick Walker, September 20, 2026 (the visit taken); Land-Grant Holy Land, Dan Hessler, September 22, 2026 (no commitment date then); Rivals, Hunter Shelton, October 1, 2026 (the October 23 date and the final three)
A recruit who chose elsewhere counts toward nothing above. He is here because the reporting on how a position emptied is usually a name.
What we have written about the running back job at Ohio State, beyond this class:
The Princeton running back told Rivals on Thursday night that he will choose between Missouri, Ohio State and Penn State on October 23. Ohio State's 2027 class still has no running back, and Rivals reports he plans to return to Penn State for its White Out on October 10, the day the Buckeyes host Maryland.
Two outlets had the Princeton running back at Ohio Stadium for Kent State. Land-Grant Holy Land reports he has not set a commitment date, the one prediction on him is still the only one, and three days later Ryan Day told his running backs to run angry.
The Cincinnati Princeton running back will be in Columbus for Kent State, his second trip in three weeks. On3's Steve Wiltfong logged a pick for Ohio State the same morning. The other back on this board, Alabama commit Nigel Newkirk, had his mother on record the same day: it's still Roll Tide.
How this reads: every running back above is grouped by the position board.json lists for him, the same grouping the needs page counts and the commit board publishes. Nothing on this page is a new claim: it is the same verified rows, gathered by position instead of by date. Ratings and national ranks carry the date they were read on each recruit's profile.
