Ohio State / Class of 2027
The questions fans ask most about Ohio State's 2027 recruiting class, answered from the verified commit board. Every count, ranking and name below is computed from the board itself, so these answers stay current as the class fills in.
Ohio State holds 19 verified commitments in its 2027 class, including 3 five-star recruits (Jacobs, Brown and Fakatou). Every pledge is listed with position, rating, national rank and high school on the 2027 commit board. Ratings come from On3's Industry view of the Ohio State 2027 commits page.
Ohio State's 2027 class ranks No. 5 nationally in On3's Industry team rankings (read October 10, 2026), No. 7 in On3's Rivals-only team rankings, and No. 7 by ESPN (read September 26, 2026). Among Big Ten programs, that Industry table puts it No. 2 of the 14 in its top 50, behind Oregon (No. 4 nationally). On3 publishes both 2027 team tables, so a figure credited to On3 alone can mean either one. National rankings move with every pledge; the current roster and rating math are on the commit board.
DJ Jacobs, a 5-star defensive end, is the highest-rated pledge in the class at NO. 3 NATL. He is followed by Jamier Brown (NO. 19 NATL) and Marcus Fakatou (NO. 31 NATL). Ratings come from On3's Industry view of the Ohio State 2027 commits page. See every commit ranked on the recruit index.

As of the last board update, the class has no commit yet at running back and tight end. Where the class stands position by position, with the targets still on the board at each spot, is broken out on the 2027 recruiting needs page. We do not project how many players Ohio State signs at each position; that is the staff's call, not ours to guess.
The next scheduled announcements are Jordan Hall (running back, October 23, 2026). Standing flip targets: Benny Easter Jr., Nigel Newkirk and Gabriel Osborne Jr. Each target is tracked with the outlet that reported it on the commit board watch list.
9 recruits Ohio State hosted or pursued for 2027 chose other schools: Monsanna Torbert Jr. (Michigan), Jayden Miles (Florida State), Blake Wong (BYU), Kaylon Bailey (Colorado), Trae Taylor (Nebraska), Colton Johnson (Ole Miss), Monshun Sales (Indiana), David Gabriel Georges (Tennessee) and Brayton Feister (Oregon). The highest-rated was Monshun Sales, a 5-star wide receiver, who chose Indiana. Rating: Eleven Warriors, Chase Brown, July 17, 2026. Reporting: Eleven Warriors, July 17, 2026; Inside the Hall, July 17, 2026. Each is listed with the outlet that reported it on the commit board watch list.
The next announcement on the board is Jordan Hall on October 23, 2026. We publish no predictions: a recruit's finalists are listed only when a named outlet has reported them, and the outcome goes up once it is confirmed in two independent outlets. Follow it live via The Scarlet Wire.
5 of the 19 commits play at an Ohio high school. Which of the state's top-rated players stayed home, and which left, is the subject of the 2027 in-state ledger.

How these answers stay honest: they are generated from the same data the commit board and needs page render, not typed by hand, so a stale number cannot survive a deploy. We publish no predictions and no ranking without the outlet that reported it. If a fact cannot be sourced, it is not here.
Asking when instead of who? The dates that shape this class come from the NCAA rather than from the board: the dead periods, the fall evaluation window, and what has not been published yet are all on the 2027 recruiting calendar.
