Yesterday this site wrote that the one thing about Jordan Hall that had not changed was the offer sheet. That sentence lasted a day.

Ohio State offered Hall on Saturday, September 5, while he was in Columbus for the Ball State opener. He announced it himself on Instagram from the stadium. The Cincinnati Enquirer’s Alex Harrison reported it that afternoon, and 247Sports’ Garrick Hodge published it the same day under the headline “Ohio 2027 RB Jordan Hall earns an Ohio State offer.”

The database agrees, and it agrees against its own earlier self. Hall’s 247Sports page carried eight offers when this site read it on August 29 and again on September 4, and Ohio State was not one of them. Read on Saturday, the same list runs to nine and Ohio State is on it.

The night before mattered

The offer did not arrive out of a clear sky. On Friday, September 4, Princeton beat Colerain 49 to 6 at home, which this site’s own reading of the MaxPreps schedule records and which puts the Vikings at three wins and no losses. Harrison reports that Hall ran for 100 yards and four touchdowns in it.

That is the second time in three weeks a Friday has moved his recruitment. The first was August 20, when Princeton beat Archbishop Moeller 31 to 24 and five schools offered him inside the next five days, Penn State first. Ohio State was not among those five. It watched two more games and then brought him into Ohio Stadium.

What it changes on the board

The board has changed one line, and it is a line that had been true since the day Hall was added to it on August 29. His row said Ohio State had not offered him. It now says Ohio State has.

Nothing else on his row moves. Jordan Hall is still an uncommitted target: RB, 5-10.5 and 205 pounds, three stars, No. 847 nationally in the 247Sports Composite as of September 5. The composite block read the same on Saturday as it did on Friday, 0.8744 over No. 847 nationally, No. 60 among running backs and No. 32 in Ohio, so the 334-spot jump this site reported yesterday was one move and not a trend.

He also has not said anything new. His decommitment statement, published by the Enquirer on Thursday, put the decision in the winter, and no outlet has reported him narrowing anything since. An offer is not a commitment, and this one is hours old at the position where this class has been waiting longest.

The room he would walk into

Ohio State has nineteen commitments in the 2027 class and none of them is a running back. That has been true since David Gabriel Georges chose Tennessee on July 22, and the empty rooms piece is still accurate at both positions it names.

The only other 2027 running back on this board is Nigel Newkirk, who has been pledged to Alabama since May 31 and who shut his recruitment down when he committed. That is a hard door. Hall is not a hard door. He is a Cincinnati senior with no pledge, a decision he says is months away, and a Buckeye offer he did not have on Friday.

What would settle this

Yesterday’s answer was an offer, and it came. The next one is narrower and it is a visit rather than a phone call: Hall has taken one game day in Columbus and nothing else. Ohio State’s 2027 class has been built on official visits, and he has not taken one.

If he schedules it, this site will report it and date it. If the winter arrives with Hall still uncommitted and still without an official visit to Ohio State, then Saturday’s offer was a courtesy extended to a local back on a good Friday, and the 2027 running back room goes into signing season exactly as empty as it is now.

Correction, September 18, 2026: this story originally said Newkirk had been pledged to Alabama since June 1. He committed on Sunday, May 31, 2026, and 247Sports’ Brett Greenberg reported it that afternoon. June 1 is the day Sports Illustrated’s CFB HQ wrote it up.
