Ohio State’s 2027 class is 20 commitments as of October 17, spread over 19 high schools, and 17 of the 19 played this week: Huntington Beach on Thursday, October 15, the other sixteen on Friday, October 16. Twelve won. The week’s biggest news at a class school came from an appeals court in Canton.

The Feisters, cleared to play

Shortly before noon on Friday, the 5th District Court of Appeals granted the injunction that Brayton and Brydon Feister had been refused a week earlier, the Canton Repository’s Tim Botos reported. The order, from Judges William B. Hoffman, Andrew J. King and Kevin W. Popham, rules both brothers eligible for the rest of the 2026 season at Massillon Washington, the school of Ohio State commit Deontay Malone. It overrides the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s September 28 declaration that they were ineligible and the October 9 ruling in Stark County Common Pleas Court, and it cancels the hearing that had been set for October 22. “We are looking at all options, including … in the supreme court,” the association’s attorney, Joseph Fraley, told Botos.

Brayton is a 2027 Oregon commit. Brydon, a junior, holds a 2028 Ohio State offer (our report on the original ruling, now updated).

That night Massillon won 49-16 at Warren Harding. The account below is from Don Engelhardt, writing for massillontigers.com, which is the Massillon Tiger Football Booster Club’s own site. It is a partisan source and we name it as one; the plays it describes are the facts we take from it.

By Engelhardt’s account Massillon led 28-9 after one quarter and the second half was played on a running clock. Running back Savior Owens ran for 232 yards and four touchdowns on 19 carries, and Brayton Feister scored twice. Engelhardt:

“Brayton Feister who, after not seeing the offensive side of the ball for a while, took off on his first carry for a 63-yard touchdown run. Later, he added a second score.”

The second was a seven-yard run, the last score of the half. Engelhardt does not mention Malone or Brydon Feister, and he writes that several Massillon starters were held out “for various reasons.” He puts Massillon at 8-1. The MaxPreps page this story counts from shows 6-1, because one of its rows names the September 25 opponent two different ways and we do not count a row until that is settled, so the 6-1 below is a floor. Massillon hosts Canton McKinley on Saturday, October 24.

The scores

Every final below is the school’s own MaxPreps schedule page, as it read on Saturday, October 17. These are TEAM results. A school’s win is not a claim that its commit played, and where we know he did, a section of this story says so and names who reported it. This week we found no bylined account that credits a member of the class with a play.

Won (12):

  • Blessed Trinity Catholic (DJ Jacobs) won 49-7 at St. Pius X Catholic and is 8-0.
  • Wayne (Jamier Brown) beat Beavercreek 21-17 and is 5-4.
  • Sierra Canyon (Marcus Fakatou) won 41-0 at Chaminade and is 8-0.
  • Liberty Center (Kellen Wymer) won 51-7 at Wauseon and is 9-0.
  • St. Thomas Aquinas (Wyatt Smith and Jaden Carey) beat Monarch 71-20 and is 8-0.
  • Millbrook (Quinton Cypher) won 49-0 at Enloe and is 7-0.
  • Huntington Beach (Brady Edmunds) won 34-14 at Western on Thursday and is 8-0.
  • Cibolo Steele (Eli Johnson) beat Judson 57-12 and is 5-1-1.
  • Massillon Washington (Deontay Malone) won 49-16 at Harding and is 6-1.
  • Bishop Watterson (Davis Seaman) won 21-0 at Walsh Jesuit and is 8-0.
  • Oviedo (Jordan Donahoo) beat Lyman 57-7 and is 6-2.
  • Chaminade-Madonna (Angelo Smith) beat McArthur 47-12 and is 6-2.

Lost (5):

  • Jackson Academy (Caden Moss) lost 28-24 at Madison-Ridgeland Academy and is 7-2.
  • Blue Springs South (Prince Goldsby) lost 21-16 at Rockhurst and is 4-4.
  • Ramsay (Karlos May) lost 20-12 at home to Helena and is 6-3.
  • St. Clairsville (Mason Wilt) lost 13-12 at home to Indian Creek and is 3-6.
  • St. Ignatius (James Conrad) lost 28-21 at St. Xavier and is 4-5.

Did not play (2): Central Catholic (Jimmy Kalis), 7-0, and Godwin (Brody McNeel), 3-4. Both play again on October 23.

St. Ignatius counts for the first time this week: Conrad, its linebacker, flipped his pledge from Buffalo to Ohio State on October 15 (our report). Sierra Canyon, Millbrook and Bishop Watterson won by shutout, and no class school was shut out. The closest finish was St. Clairsville’s 13-12 loss to Indian Creek, a week after it beat Brooke 14-13. After the week, eight of the 19 schools have not lost a game, the same eight as a week earlier, and they carry nine of the twenty commitments. Two records are floors: Millbrook’s 7-0 leaves out its September 25 game with Rolesville, which MaxPreps still shows at 10-10 with the overtime unplayed, and Massillon’s 6-1 leaves out the September 25 row above.

On the watch list

Princeton, the school of uncommitted running back Jordan Hall, beat Oak Hills 39-7 and is 9-0 on its MaxPreps page. Hall has said he will choose between Missouri, Ohio State and Penn State on October 23 (our report), the night Princeton hosts Fairfield at 7 p.m.

Friday, October 23

Seventeen of the nineteen schools list a game that week. Blessed Trinity Catholic is off until it hosts Chattahoochee on October 30, and the only October 23 game on St. Ignatius’s page is the same kind of row as Massillon’s September 25 one, its opponent named two different ways, so we leave it off until that is settled. Kickoff times are local, from each school’s MaxPreps page as read on Saturday, October 17.

Every school’s schedule, with each game in your own calendar if you want it, is on /season. Every current-season line we have printed is on The players’ own stat lines, and the class itself, all twenty names with the reporting behind each, is on the board.
