The last name alone would have made news. On Wednesday, July 1, Jett Harrison, the 2028 five-star wide receiver and younger brother of Marvin Harrison Jr., committed to Ohio State.

The commitment extends a streak that has become the program’s calling card: six consecutive recruiting classes with at least one five-star wide receiver, and nine of the last ten dating back to 2019. The full run reads like a first round mock draft:

  • 2019: Garrett Wilson
  • 2020: Julian Fleming and Jaxon Smith-Njigba
  • 2021: Emeka Egbuka
  • 2022: the lone miss
  • 2023: Brandon Inniss
  • 2024: Jeremiah Smith and Mylan Graham
  • 2025: Quincy Porter
  • 2026: Chris Henry Jr.
  • 2027: Jamier Brown
  • 2028: Jett Harrison

The Hankton era is working

The quiet story here is the coach. When Brian Hartline left in January to become South Florida’s head coach, the fair question was whether Wide Receiver U would skip a beat under Cortez Hankton. Six months in, the answer is no. Hankton has landed Harrison, secured 2029 receiver Austin Miller as the program’s first commitment in that class, and got five-star Jamier Brown to shut down his recruitment entirely back in May.

Receivers want to play here, whoever is coaching the room. That is what a dynasty position looks like.
