247Sports published its preseason high school All-America team on Tuesday, August 25, and three of the nineteen players on Ohio State’s 2027 commit board are on it: edge rusher DJ Jacobs, offensive lineman Kellen Wymer and linebacker Prince Goldsby. Garrick Hodge reported the three for 247’s Ohio State site the same afternoon. He called them a 2027 edge, a 2027 offensive lineman and a 2027 linebacker, which is how this board has them typed as well, allowing for the fact that this board writes the edge rusher’s position as DE.
Nineteen is also the number Hodge printed for the size of the class. This board has said nineteen since the August 16 verification, and the two counts were arrived at separately, so that is a small independent check on the one figure everything else here is measured against.
What the team says, and what we could not read
TJ Randall’s team article is the primary document and most of it is behind 247’s VIP wall. The part that is free runs through the national player of the year award and the quarterback slot, then stops. That is enough to know Jacobs, Wymer and Goldsby are on the team, because Hodge says so in a free story on the same day, and it is not enough to know whether any of the three is a first-team pick or a position honorable mention.
So this story does not say. Randall’s format gives each position a selection and a short honorable mention list under it, the edge, offensive line and linebacker sections are the ones we cannot open, and guessing which line a name sits on is the kind of small invention that turns into a fact somewhere else three weeks later. What 247’s own Ohio State writer published is that the three were “selected” and “made the squad.” That is what is printed above and it is the whole of it.
The method is worth one line because it decides how much the honour weighs: Randall writes that the team came from “tallying the votes from our scouting team, plus our panel of 247Sports experts.” It is a vote of one outlet’s staff, not a composite of several, and it is preseason, which means it is a projection of a senior year that in most of these states has not kicked off yet.
The finalist paragraph is the one to read twice
Hudson Standish’s companion story on the national player of the year is free in full, and it is where a reader of this board should stop.
Richmond, Texas running back Landen Williams-Callis won the award. Standish writes that Williams-Callis “earned the most votes, followed by Alabama five-star quarterback commit Elijah Haven, Tennessee five-star running back commit David Gabriel Georges and Ohio State five-star edge rusher DJ Jacobs.” Four finalists, in a national field, for the single biggest individual honour anybody hands out in August.
Two of those four have a row on this board.
One is Jacobs, the edge rusher out of Blessed Trinity Catholic in Roswell, Georgia, who committed to Ohio State on December 29, 2025 and has been the top line of this class ever since. The other is David Gabriel Georges, who is on this board as a miss: he picked Tennessee over Ohio State and Ole Miss on July 22. Ohio State has still not signed a running back in this cycle, which makes that room the emptiest space in the class.
There is a third name in the same neighbourhood. Randall’s quarterback honorable mentions are Trae Taylor and Peyton Houston, and Taylor is the Nebraska pledge Ohio State explored flipping and did not move. He is a miss here too.
That is three men on a preseason All-America page whose recruitments this site has been reporting for two months, one of whom said yes. The honour is a compliment to the evaluation. The other two lines are the cost of a nineteen-man class that has taken almost nobody late.
Three commits, three different arguments
Jacobs is the one nobody needs convincing about. He is a five-star, he was on the board before the 2026 calendar year started, and he is now a national player of the year finalist as an edge rusher in a field that gave the award to a running back with 7,554 career rushing yards.
Wymer is the local one, and that matters more here than any ranking does. He is the interior lineman from Liberty Center in Ohio, he committed on November 2, 2025 on the same day as fellow lineman Mason Wilt, and only three players in this class had pledged before the pair of them. Rivals already had Wymer as the best 2027 prospect in the state of Ohio when this site went through the in-state class. He is now on a national team picked by the other service that ranks him.
Goldsby is the newest of the three. The linebacker from Blue Springs South in Blue Springs, Missouri committed on May 25, 2026, three months ago, and he is the only one of the three who said yes in this calendar year. A preseason All-America nod on a class that has had him for a single summer is the sort of thing that shows up in a ranking table two months from now.
Senior seasons start this weekend in most of these states. Preseason honours are a projection, and the three men named here have four months to make them look obvious or premature. This board will carry whichever it turns out to be.
